The use of these assets can take various forms, such as reproduction rights, use in subsequent processes or production, operating a business under a franchise system, and others. Intellectual property owners can be both the creators of the property or not. The activities covered include operational leasing of intangible intellectual property (excluding copyrighted works like books or software) and the receipt of royalties or license fees for the use of patented entities, trademarks and service marks, brand names, mineral mining/exploration rights, franchise agreements, and other intangible intellectual property.
