Building Construction

This subgroup includes: - Construction of residential or non-residential buildings on one's own account for sale or on a fee or contract basis. Construction activities for buildings may be subcontracted in part or in whole. If only a portion of the construction process is undertaken, the activity is classified under major group 43. This subgroup includes: - Construction of all types of residential buildings, such as single-family homes and multi-family buildings, including multi-story structures. - Construction of all types of non-residential buildings, such as industrial buildings (e.g., industrial plants, workshops, assembly plants), hospitals, schools, office buildings, hotels, stores, malls, restaurants, airport buildings, indoor sports facilities, parking garages (including underground parking), warehouses, and places of worship. - Alteration or renovation of existing building structures. This subgroup does not include: - Installation of prefabricated components for the overall construction of non-concrete parts, see major groups 16 and 25. - Construction of industrial facilities other than buildings, see 4291. - Architectural and engineering activities, see 7110. - Project management activities related to construction, see 7110.
