Indonesia's BUPM (Investment Business Fields) regulation places this code into one of five tracks. The track determines whether a foreign investor (PMA) can operate in this activity at all, and under what conditions.

KBLI 06202 is not on Indonesia's closed, conditional, SME-reserved, or partnership-required schedules under BUPM (Pres. Reg. 10/2021). A foreign investor can incorporate a PT PMA under this code, but sector regulators (PSE/Kominfo, BPOM, OJK, Kemenkes, Permendag, ESDM) almost always add licensing and capital requirements on top — the practical answer depends on your specific business model.
This KBLI is open under BUPM (Pres. Reg. 10/2021) — it's not on any restricted, closed, SME-reserved, or partnership-required schedule. That's the BUPM verdict only, not a complete sector-readiness check: sector regulators almost always add requirements on top (PSE/Kominfo for digital platforms, BPOM for food and cosmetics, OJK for financial, Kemenkes for healthcare, Permendag for retail, ESDM for energy). BKPM's default capital floor is IDR 2.5 billion paid-up with IDR 10 billion+ total investment commitment per KBLI, but sector regulators frequently set higher minimums for specific activities. Operating License (Izin)
Important: NIB is issued for the preparation stage. Commercial operation requires a full Operating License (Izin) issued by the competent ministry after a substantive review of the operator's capability, facility, and compliance. Operating with NIB alone exposes the entity to penalties, blacklisting, and contract invalidation.

Ongoing obligations
13Compliance and reporting duties throughout operation
- 01Providing support for research activities and the development of geothermal science and technology.
- 02Conduct pollution control and/or environmental damage management, which includes prevention, mitigation, and restoration of environmental functions.
- 03Provide support for activities related to the creation, development of competencies, and fostering human resources in the geothermal sector.
- 04Submit a written report on Geothermal Utilization for Indirect Use to the Minister periodically on: a. Work plan and budget plan and b. Realization of the implementation of the work plan and budget plan.
- 05Fulfill obligations in the form of state revenue and regional revenue in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.
- 06Prioritizing the utilization of goods, services, as well as engineering and design capabilities from domestic sources in a transparent and competitive manner.
- 07Implementing community development and empowerment programs.
- 08Conduct bookkeeping or recording with good faith and reflecting the actual state or activities of the business.
- 09Understanding and complying with laws and regulations in the field of occupational safety and health, as well as environmental protection and management, and meeting applicable standards.
- 10Prioritizing the use of Indonesian labor.
- 11Encouraging the development of direct geothermal utilization in its working area.
- 12Carry out Exploration, Exploitation, and utilization in accordance with good and proper technical principles.
- 13Submit a long-term plan for exploration, exploitation, and utilization to the Minister, which includes activity plans and budget plans, as well as the amount of reserves.
