This category includes the utilization of protected algae and other aquatic biota and/or CITES Appendix species that are limited outside their protection regulations and/or subject to utilization restrictions according to ratified international conventions. These aquatic organisms live in marine, freshwater, and brackish habitats and may be used for research and development, commercial breeding, domestic trade, international trade, aquaria, and exchange programs. This category does not cover the capture of fully protected algae and other aquatic biota species based on national regulations, including those listed in CITES Appendix I, and/or those whose capture is prohibited according to government policies.
