Capture/Taking of Protected Amphibians and/or CITES Appendix Amphibians

This category includes the utilization of protected Amphibians and/or CITES Appendix Amphibians that are limited outside their protection regulations and/or subject to utilization restrictions according to ratified international conventions. These Amphibians live in marine, freshwater, and brackish habitats and may be used for research and development, commercial breeding, domestic trade, international trade, aquaria, and exchange programs. Examples of Amphibians in this category include Amyda cartiliginea (Softshell Turtle) and Orlitia borneensis (Borneo River Turtle). This category does not cover the capture of fully protected Amphibians based on national regulations, including those listed in CITES Appendix I, and/or those whose capture is prohibited according to government policies.
