Capture/Taking of Protected Coelenterates and/or CITES Appendix Coelenterates

This category includes the utilization of protected Coelenterates and/or CITES Appendix Coelenterates that are limited outside their protection regulations and/or subject to utilization restrictions according to ratified international conventions. These Coelenterates live in marine, freshwater, and brackish habitats and may be used for research and development, commercial breeding, domestic trade, international trade, aquaria, and exchange programs. The list of Coelenterates in this category may change based on changes in regulations and/or decisions of the CITES Convention. This category does not cover the capture of fully protected Coelenterates based on national regulations, including those listed in CITES Appendix I, and/or those whose capture is prohibited according to government policies. Examples include hard corals of the Order Scleractinia.
