metal and non-metal waste management activities and other materials into secondary raw materials (raw materials derived from recycling), usually including mechanical or chemical change processes; | recovery of materials from waste collections, such as: separation and sorting of recoverable materials from non-hazardous waste collections; separation and sorting of recoverable materials, such as paper, plastic, textiles, finished textile goods, used beverage cans, and scrap metal. Examples of mechanical and chemical transformation processes to obtain secondary raw materials are: | mechanical destruction of metal waste such as cars, washing machines, used bicycles and so on, which is then sorted and separated; | dismantling of cars, computers, televisions and other equipment for material recovery; | mechanical reduction of large pieces of iron, such as train carriages; | slicing or cutting of metal waste, scrap vehicles, and so on; | other mechanical management methods such as cutting and pressing to reduce volume; | ship dismantling; | recovery of metal from photographic waste, for example fixer solution or photographic film and paper; | recovery of rubber from various sources such as used tires to produce secondary raw materials; | sorting and mechanical processing (e.g. cleaning, grinding) of plastics to produce secondary raw materials; | processing (cleaning, melting, grinding) of plastic or rubber waste into granules; | sorting, recovery, and mechanical or chemical processing of used textile/textile waste, used apparel, and other used textile goods to produce secondary raw materials; | processing (curing, cleaning, sorting) of incineration bottom ash into secondary raw materials (metals, aggregates); | crushing, cleaning and sorting of glass; | crushing, cleaning and sorting of other waste, such as demolition waste to obtain secondary raw materials; | recovery of waste oil, processing of used cooking oil and fat into secondary raw materials; | processing of food, beverage and other tobacco waste and waste substances into secondary raw materials.
