31INDUSTRI FURNITUR

Furniture Industry

The manufacture of furniture and parts thereof, except sheet and plate glass, stone, concrete, or materials similar to furniture parts. The processing used in furniture manufacture is standard methods, namely the shaping of materials and the assembly of components, including cutting, molding, and coating. Product design, both for aesthetic and functional qualities, is an important aspect of the production process. Some of the processes used in furniture manufacture are similar to those used in other industry segments. For example, cutting and assembly take place in the production of wooden frames, which is classified in Division 16 (processing of wood, articles of wood and cork not including furniture, and plaited articles of bamboo, rattan, and the like). However, some processes distinguish the manufacture of wooden furniture from the manufacture of wood products. Likewise, the manufacture of metal furniture uses techniques that are also used in the manufacture of molded products.
