This subgroup includes: - Administration, supervision, and operations of military defense for the armed forces, including the army, navy, air force, and space forces, in dealing with threats through land, sea, air, technical defense, transportation, communication, intelligence, materials, personnel, and other non-combatant command and support units, reserve forces from defense institutions, military logistics (provision of equipment, infrastructure, foodstuffs, etc.), and healthcare services for military personnel in the field. - Administration, operations, and support for civil defense. - Support for deployment and training involving civilian institutions and populations. - Defense administration related to research and development policies and related financial institutions. This subgroup does not include: - Research and development activities, see 72. - Providing military aid to foreign countries, see 8421. - Military court activities, see 8423. - Providing assistance for domestic emergencies such as post-disaster peacetime situations, see 8423. - Educational activities for military schools and academies, see 8531. - Military hospital activities, see 8610.
