Selection of plant seeds for propagation.
This subgroup includes all post-harvest activities aimed at improving the quality of seeds through the selection of non-seed materials, undersized seeds, mechanical damage or insect damage, and immature seeds, as well as maintaining seed moisture in a safe condition for seed storage. These activities include drying, cleaning, sorting, and others until the seeds are ready for market. Maintenance of modified seeds is also included here. This subgroup does not include: - Seed planting, see groups 011 and 012 - Processing seeds to produce oil, see 1041 - Research to develop or modify seeds in new forms, see 7210.
